Keynote Speakers

Prof. Dr. David Marpaung (Head of Nonlinear Nanophotonics group)

“Integrated Photonics for Next Generation Communications, Automation, and Computing”

David Marpaung is a professor at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. He is leading the Nonlinear Nanophotonics group David received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Twente in 2009. From 2009 to 2012 he was a postdoctoral researcher in the University of Twente, working on microwave photonic system integration for optical beamforming. He joined CUDOS University of Sydney, Australia in August 2012 as a research fellow. From 2015 to 2017 he was a senior research fellow leading the nonlinear integrated microwave photonics research activities in CUDOS University of Sydney. David was the recipient of the 2015 Discovery Early Career Research Award (DECRA) from the Australian Research Council and the 2017 Vidi award and the 2018 START UP grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). His research interests include RF photonics, photonic integration, nonlinear optics, and phononics.

Jessy Abdurrahman (CEO ZI.CARE Indonesia)

Jessy is a founder of Zi.Care Health Information System. An ecosystem with main vision to create inclusivity in Healthcare Industry. He is married and having 3 children. He finished his degree in Bachelor of Computer Science from The University of Western Australia, Perth, West Australia, majoring in Computer System. He has been involved in Healthcare Industry for almost a decade. He assisted three largest Government Hospitals in Indonesia by designing an efficient, modern and integrated Hospital Information System. During this time he also helped Ministry of Health in building Emergency Call System 119 (SPGDT 119). Currently he is also active as an IT Consultant in Ministry of Health in designing Single National Health Record. In 2017 he established PT. Jejaring Tiga Artha with Zi.Care as their brand to provide solution for Hospital and other healthcare facilities in Indonesia. Currently Zi.Care has an exclusive contract with Bank Syariah Mandiri in channeling Supply Chain Financing BPJS Claim for hospitals. The solution will reduce the claim period to ease the hospital’s operational burden due to the BPJS claim issues. In 2017, he has been granted the LPDP scholarship to continue his study in University of Melbourne, Australia. Due to his activities in Zi.Care, he postponed this offer.

Dr. Rifai Chai (Swinburne University of Technology, Australia)

“Artificial Intelligence for Brain-Computer Interfaces: Brain-Controlled Wheelchair and Driver Monitoring Applications”

Dr. Rifai Chai received the B. Eng. degree from Krida Wacana Christian University
(UKRIDA) Jakarta, Indonesia in 2000 and the PhD degree in Engineering from the
University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Sydney, Australia in 2014. From 2000 to
2011 he has worked as electronic-product development engineer with companies in
Indonesia and Australia. Currently, he is working as Academic Director International
and Senior Lecturer with School of Software and Electrical Engineering, Swinburne
University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. His research interests are artificial
intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, rehabilitation, medical technologies and
autonomous system. Currently, he is a Senior Member of IEEE and serves as
Associate Editor for Electronics Letters.

Presentation Instruction

You will have a 18-minute time slot for your presentation (15 Minutes for Presentation and 3 Minutes for Q/A). You will not be able to extend your time if you have technical problems during your talk. A technical assistant will be on hand for equipment problems and operating the computer, however the computer will be also operated by the presenter himself.

Prepare your presentation in a single PowerPoint file to run on an Windows compatible computer with Microsoft Office 2007-2010 or Adobe PDF file. This program will run PowerPoint 2010 and all previous versions of PowerPoint. Save your file as a normal PowerPoint file (.ppt or pptx). Do not save your file as a PowerPoint Show (.pps) file.

All presentations must run on the Windows operating system. Conference computers will run on Windows 7. If at all possible, please create your presentation on the same version of Windows or at least test it on Windows 7 before submitting it. Otherwise errors may occur in your presentation at the conference.

Presentations could be submitted on EDAS or registraton day of the conference at the registration desk. Name your file with the paper code number and the last name of the first author. (Note: Paper code number included the day and time information will be available on the conference website). Having the presentation files loaded in advance will help to ensure that the sessions run on schedule without delays. Please consult the registration desk staff for instructions on where to load your file.

Bring one extra-copy of your presentation to the conference on USB media storage device. This copy is to be used as a backup by you and the session technician if needed.

Conference organizers will load all presentations on conference computers. Presenters will be allowed to use their own laptop computers.

All presenters will be given the opportunity to check their presentations on-site, before their presentation time. There will be a preview room available and presentations may be viewed in the appropriate session room during breaks. Please consult the registration desk staff for instructions on where to load your file.

VCR, overhead projector or slide carrousel projector is not standard equipment in the lecture room, and will NOT be available.

Joint 6th International Conference on New Media Studies and 2nd International Conference On Smart Cities, Automation & Intelligent Computing Systems CONMEDIA & ICON-SONICS 2021 will be organized by Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN). All papers are to be submitted electronically in PDF format. The papers will be reviewed for technical merit and content. The accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings only if one of the authors is registered for and attending the conference and is presenting the work.

Any other topics related to recent development in new media technology are always welcome and appreciated. All presentation will be held in English. The articles accepted for presentation will be published in the CONMEDIA 2021 Proceedings. The submission of a paper implies that the paper is original, has not been published or submitted under review or is not copyright-protected elsewhere, and will be presented at the conference by an author if accepted.
